Your certified nursing assistant or home health aide receives specific training to best care for your loved one.

Our Story: Nearly 20 Years of Caring for Western North Carolina
Ashe Home Care was founded in 2006 — and for nearly two decades, we have been one of western North Carolina’s most trusted in-home care providers. What started as a small agency committed to keeping people safely at home has grown into a two-location operation serving families across Ashe, Watauga, Wilkes, Alleghany, Caldwell, and surrounding counties.
In 2017, Chelsea and Tom Moriarty purchased Ashe Home Care with a clear vision: to build on its strong foundation while raising the standard of personalized, nurse-directed home care in the region. Chelsea brought her background as a Registered Nurse and ANCC board-certified Med-Surg specialist to the director role — ensuring that clinical expertise guides every care plan we create.
We are not a franchise. We are not a call center. When you contact Ashe Home Care, you speak with real people who know our clients by name, understand our communities, and are genuinely invested in your loved one’s wellbeing.

Many home care agencies send aides into your home with minimal clinical oversight. At Ashe Home Care, every client receives a personalized assessment and care plan developed and supervised by a Registered Nurse. This means:

Our West Jefferson office has served the High Country region since the agency’s founding — building deep roots in Ashe, Watauga, and Alleghany counties.
Our North Wilkesboro office extends our reach into Wilkes and Caldwell counties, bringing the same family-centered approach to families in the Foothills area.

Get to Know the Team
Meet our director and business owner, Chelsea Moriarty, pictured with her husband Tom and beautiful children, Madeline and Wyatt. Chelsea obtained her Associates in nursing in 2009, and then graduated from UNC Wilmington with a bachelors degree in nursing along with a specialty ANCC board certification in Med Surg, shortly after. Chelsea and her husband Tom bought Ashe Home Care in 2017 as well, and and are licensed to provide care in many of the counties in western North Carolina. Chelsea enjoys spending time with her family on Kerr Scott Lake, and visiting family who reside in Massachusetts and West Virginia. Chelsea is an amazing RN and director who provides care and compassion for both employees and clients alike. Ashe Home Care, Inc is lucky to have her!
Meet Ashe Home Care’s Office Manager Christy Powell! Christy is a native of Watauga county and resides there with her husband Stacey and their zoo of animals. Christy is usually in our home office, taking care of scheduling, Human Resources and anything else that pops up at AHC. Outside of the office, Christy loves to fish and spend time on Kerr Scott Lake, as well as gardening and reading. ps- we also hear that Christy is a fantastic cook and brings in goodies to the office! Stop by and say hello!
Kathy Church has been with Ashe Home Care since April 2006-WOW!! 17 years and counting, Kathy is an amazing caregiver, who always goes above and beyond for her clients. In her spare time, Kathy loves spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Say hello to AHC staff member Makayla Houck! Makayla is a Certified Nursing Assistant who provides excellent in-home care to our clients. She also helps in our home office, supporting Chelsea and Christy. She graduated from Ashe County High School and has been in nursing since 2015. Pictured with Makayla is her best friend, Buddy, who she rescued in 2021. Along with her pets, Makayla loves the beach and spending time with family and friends!
